Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using the StayClose website ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service. Today, "the Service" means this website; once the StayClose app launches, these Terms will extend to cover it too, and we'll update this page when that happens.

Description of Service

StayClose is a long-distance friendship app, currently in development. The idea: capture a short note when you learn something about a friend who's far away, and get reminded about it in time to reach out — so you never find out something important from a feed.

Today, this website lets you join the waitlist and contact us. The app itself hasn't launched yet.

Using This Website

This website doesn't currently have user accounts — joining the waitlist or contacting us only requires a name and email address in a form. You must be at least 13 years old to use this website. When the app launches with accounts, we'll update these Terms to describe how they work.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service:

  • In any way that violates any applicable national or international law or regulation
  • To transmit, or procure the sending of, any advertising or promotional material through our forms without our prior written consent
  • To impersonate or attempt to impersonate StayClose, or another user or person
  • In any way that infringes upon the rights of others, or in any way is illegal, threatening, fraudulent, or harmful

Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of StayClose and its licensors. The Service is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws of both the United States and foreign countries.

Our trademarks and trade dress may not be used in connection with any product or service without the prior written consent of StayClose.

User Content

This website doesn't have a feature for posting or sharing content publicly today. Information you submit through the waitlist or contact form is covered by our Privacy Policy, not this section. Once the app launches with a feature for writing notes about the people you care about, we'll update this section to describe how that content is handled.

Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

Pricing

This website is free to use, and v1 of the app will be free when it launches. There are no fees or paid features today. If that changes in the future, these Terms will be updated before any paid features exist.

Termination

We may remove you from the waitlist or restrict access to this website at our discretion, for any reason, without prior notice.

If you'd like to stop hearing from us, reply to any waitlist email, or contact us at hello@staycloseapp.co, and we'll remove you immediately.

Limitation of Liability

In no event shall StayClose be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from:

  • Your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service
  • Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service
  • Any content obtained from the Service
  • Unauthorized access, use or alteration of your transmissions or content

Disclaimer

Your use of the Service is at your sole risk. The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Changes to Terms

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will post the updated Terms on this page at least 30 days before they take effect.
